Biography

Clint Nelson grew up in Allen, Texas, just north of Dallas, and has always had a strong interest in creating and the performing arts. As a child he could amuse himself for hours with a notepad, a pair of scissors, and scotch tape. It seemed he could make anything from paper just as though it were legos. He has also always enjoyed creative writing, and has enjoyed telling stories ever since he was a small child.

He graduated with honors from Allen High School in 1996. In high school he was actively involved in the Broadcast Journalism department as well as Theatre. HE was honored by being named to the International Thespian Society as a sophomore. His extracurricular activities involved composing music, playing the guitar, and subsequently like many kids his age, video games. After graduating, he attended the University of North Texas in Denton as a Radio, Television, and Film Major. With his passion for Broadcast Journalism and Theatre in High School, the RTVF major seemed like a perfect fit, however, he was not ready to leave his family and close circle of friends at the time, and had difficulty adjusting to college life. With his grades slipping, he decided it was unfair for his parents to pay such a large amount of money for him not to perform at his best.

One of his close friends and band mates, who worked as a motion graphic artist at a local television station, introduced him to the world of 3d, in a software program called Lightwave. He instantly fell in love, and began creating his own 3d projects and additional content for games like The Sims. The field seemed like a perfect fit for his strengths both as an artist and his technical savvy. Having worked at a jobs where he dreaded getting up every morning, Clint decided to return to college and pursue a degree in a field he felt destined to be a part of.

In the spring of 2005, Clint enrolled in at Collin County Community College. He graduated from Collin County Community College not only with an Associates degree in Animation for television and film, but an impressive demo reel and a strong willingness to succeed.

While attending Collin County Community College, Clint has had his work placed into their student showcase on two separate occasions. He has also joined the local animation organization, A Bunch of Short Guys, and last year won second place in their student 3d modeling and texturing competition. His project was selected among stiff competition for the maymesters 3d Short Production class, as the project for that class. He is also currently a student member of ACM and has attended the last two Siggraph conventions in Boston and San Diego.

In the Spring of 2008, Clint began classes at the University of Texas at Dallas, continuing his work toward his bachelors degree in Arts and Technology. Despite not meeting the prerequisites, he convinced his instructor, to allow him into the Advanced 3d modeling course and he has excelled there.

In February of 2008 the Dallas studio ReelFX, offered Clint a month long subcontract on a production. Despite working long hours at the studio and juggling a full load of college classes, he enjoyed the opportunity to work in a professional environment, with some of the best artists Dallas has to offer. While at ReelFX, Clint had the opportunity to rig characters, props vehicles and set pieces. He also modeled a few props, and made low poly proxies of existing assets. That opportunity sealed the deal that this was the industry Clint wanted to be a part of.

Some of Clint's favorite movies include Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Stargate, Toy Story, and Lord of the Rings. His favorite video game experiences include The Legend of Zelda Series, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy X, Baldur's Gate II, Neverwinter Nights, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and the Grand Theft Auto III series.
